Job Title: Payroll, Benefits, and HR Specialist

Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid – 1-2 days on-site, remainder remote)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $60,000+ (Open to negotiation depending on experience)

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Payroll, Benefits, and HR Specialist to manage day-to-day HR, payroll, and benefits responsibilities across multi-state manufacturing operations. This is a solo HR position—ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and is eager to support both hourly and salaried employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration

  • End-to-end payroll processing for hourly/salaried employees across multiple states using Paylocity
  • Process garnishments, bonuses, and ensure timely and accurate payroll execution

Benefits Administration

  • Manage benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life, 401(k), HSA/FSA, disability) including open enrollment and onboarding/offboarding
  • Provide support to employees on benefits, claims, and plan options

General HR Support

  • Administer onboarding, I-9 verification, policy distribution, and personnel records
  • Support leadership in employee relations, documentation, and compliance
  • Manage workers' comp reporting and stay current on labor laws across locations

Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare HR/payroll reports: headcount, turnover, audits, ACA/EEO, etc.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, FMLA, ADA, and labor standards
  • Participate in cross-functional HR improvement projects

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of payroll and HR experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and hourly employee populations
  • Proficient in Excel, HRIS/Payroll systems (Paylocity preferred)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

Preferred Certifications:

  • FPC, CPP, SHRM-CP, or PHR
